These poorly positioned impacted teeth can cause many problems. When they are partially erupted, the opening around the teeth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an infection. The result: swelling, stiffness, pain, and illness. The pressure from the erupting wisdom teeth may move other teeth and disrupt the orthodontic or natural alignment of teeth. The most serious problem occurs when tumors or cysts form around the impacted wisdom teeth, resulting in the destruction of the jawbone and healthy teeth. Removal of impacted wisdom teeth usually resolves these problems. Early wisdom teeth extraction is recommended to avoid such future problems and to decrease the surgical risk involved with the procedure. At Advanced Dental – Scarsdale top-rated Oral Surgeons specialize in completely painless wisdom teeth removal procedures. We offer wisdom teeth extractions under sedation in order to minimize any bad notions that can be associated with wisdom teeth extractions by teenagers and young adults.

PATIENT ARRIVAL AND SCREENING
Prior to your appointment, our team will call you to confirm that you have no symptoms of COVID-19, and will email you all of the forms that need to be filled out. As you enter our office, you will receive a PPE package, which includes a mask, lab coat, gloves, hat, and foot covers, and your temperature will be taken.
When you enter the treatment room, we will ask you to rinse with hydrogen peroxide, a very safe and effective oral antiseptic.
Practicing behaviors such as social distancing and personal hygiene constantly prove themselves to be the most effective ways of staying safe. This is why our team has taken time to alter the safety control measures we have always followed to include new ones specific to COVID-19. Office cleanliness has always been our top priority, but we now start each day by taking temperatures, checking ourselves for any symptoms, and taking the same precautions we ask our patients to follow. Our team has also taken this time to review the safety precautions we take at home and as we continue our daily lives. Following the guidelines set by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) will help us keep our loved ones, work environments and communities safe.
(PPE) PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
Our office has N95 masks, face shields, surgical caps and gowns, touchless infrared thermometers and hand sanitizer dispensers. N95 masks, face shields, surgical caps and gowns ARE SINGLE USE ONLY. Difficult-to-clean items and clutter have been removed from the office and treatment rooms. This allows for effective and efficient cleaning between patients.
Misting with electrolyzed water is proven to be far more effective and safe than peroxide and bleach products used in broad spectrum room disinfection. It has been used in hospital settings for years, and is now commonly found in dental settings. Our team has also taken air filtration measures, such as adding high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters that scrub the air of large particles, and PiCO air purifiers that sterilize and inactivate viruses and bacteria. All common areas and treatments rooms have both types of filters installed to maximize efficiency and safety. After seeing a patient and after closing our team will be using ultraviolet-C (UV-C) light, which is proven to be effective against viruses and bacteria.

Advanced Dental Scarsdale oral surgeons will see only one patient at a time, and will space out appointments to allow time for our team to clean and change into fresh garments. Patients at a higher risk, such as those over 60 years old, or those who may be suffering from cardiovascular disease, are immune-compromised, etc., will be seen in the mornings, before our doctors have seen multiple patients. We encourage all paperwork, rescheduling conversations, and payments to happen over the phone in order to reduce the amount of time patients need to spend in the office.
